Drs. Sellke & Reily uses Waterlase MD™ technology to comfortably correct soft tissue problems in and around the mouth. Waterlase is a laser treatment using a light beam of water. It does not include any shots, and uses only a topical anesthetic. Waterlase is typically very quick, and can often be used to help keep your treatment on time.
Waterlase is used to provide treatment for:
- Sealing and rapid health of canker sores, apthous ulcers, cold sores, and other oral lesions that may occur with or without braces.
- Removal of excess gum tissue around individual teeth.
- Uncovering of teeth delayed in eruption.
- Removal of excess fibrous gum tissue between the front teeth or the frenum (a small fold of tissue that secures the motion of a mobile body part) that may be restricting tongue function.
If our orthodontists believe that Waterlase treatment may be beneficial for you during or after orthodontic treatment, we will provide you with further information about it and help you schedule your appointment. Since Waterlase in not included in your orthodontic treatment fee, we can assist you with financing and dental insurance claims. You also have the option of discussing Waterlase treatments with your dentist or periodontist, as they may provide a similar service.
